Dorcas Gibson

I have had a lifelong passion for art and textiles. Growing up in Cornwall, I was captivated by the beauty of the Cornish coast, drawn to the myths and legends of the sea witches & mermaids. After studying at Falmouth school of art, I moved to London to complete a City & Guilds in creative Embroidery. Following on from this I attended the Prestigious Goldsmiths, University of London, completing a BA in Fine Art and Textiles.

Crafts & Textiles

After 30 years, myself and my Partner Martin longed to live back by the sea and relocated to Falmouth.

Mackerel Moon was born out of our love to create, working together to bring to life creative workshop courses and commissions in mould making and crafts.

My niche is one of a kind handmade dolls, inspired by sea nymphs, swans, historical and mythical creatures. Starting as a personal hobby, they have since been exhibited and I have been creating them on a commission basis ever since. I also enjoy up cycling furniture, making lampshades and experimenting with other textiles, all of which I aim to teach in my courses.
